Chapter 201 - 8 eyes see more than 4
glasses, reloaded...

yesterday we went to the optometrist, again, the overall top level in depth variant, including lenses, light in all colors and forms known to man, eye drops, magnifying glass and attention getter song, even mrs. AND mr. doctor! but since our dragon is a brave and easy to please one, everything was over in a relative hurry and almost without tears. instead lots of news - good and not so good - and prescriptions galore. which essentially do not do us any good, as our dodgy health insurance covers eye wear only beyond 8 dioptrien, and it aint THAT bad, luckily...

bottom line: both boys need glasses now, the values are almost identical by now, interestingly mirrored to each other: left eye ben equals collin's right eye and vice versa... mademoiselle looks intelligent enough without spex, therefore keeps a "naked eye"... photos to follow after acquisition of adequate vision enhancement... how thrilling...

Chapter 200 - smiling: the most charming way to bare your teeth
with giant leaps our firstborn and heir started plowing through the crowd of his numerous siblings to inevitably lay the foundation for future dentists' generations' wealth: two members of his lower chewing ridge are here to stay, looking just as sleek and sporty as those of our other brood... didn't even seem to hurt (as much), judging by the relatively low noise and short emission time.

bottom line: watch out, the dragon is getting more dangerous! mama has already been bitten! :)

Chapter 199 - dragon caleidoscope (VIII)
* kaleidoscope. * shake. * look. * new image. *

vicky has learned something new: shaking her head "no". surprisingly she finds that very funny... :) she shakes her head - and then bursts out in laughter... which naturally leads to situative fun, when there was, for instance, a question asked or we grownups just talk: suddenly she shakes her head "no" and then scream-laughs... what a funny kid!

other than that spring just continues where fall let off last year: sunshine galore! which is especially nice for the dragon, because they can be out in fresh air - finally! in latest 2 weeks everything will be green and blooming here, should speed up development considerably!

BUT: we have to buy a bigger filofax. our dragon has appointments left and right: physical therapy and eye doctor, pediatric therapy centers, two of them, see-school, eat-training, vaccinations, preventive monitoring... starting to break a little sweat here. and this is even prior to them walking! :)

and: NO, this is not a complaint! :-P

Chapter 198 - striding forth
our dragon has safely landed home again, after a very successful stay at the clinic: not only did they find a higher calory food for the boys, they also helped them over their most recent infect. hence the - massive - weight gain, a whole pound each in those few days! plus, they also found us a special clinic, in which troubled kids can learn how to eat. and that is precisely where we're going to next. it always blows me away, what nature can do in just 9 months, on her own. but how much time, effort, experience and expertise it requires, if she could or did not do her part: we humans will eventually get there, but what does it take? amazing!

Chapter 197 - sit!
vicky knows "sit"! well, "down" she knew before... :) no, seriously, she sat up _herself_, mama just reported over the phone. if she keeps her development strides this huge, we are going to feel like the parents of three regular conventional kids: they are drifting ever more apart... ben & collin are getting over their infect, yes, but it looks as if they have to go to yet another kids development center. this time to learn how to eat. at least noone speaks of any organ related troubles, like intestine problems or such, it seems to be sole motoric muscle control issues. they are still experimenting with diifferent kinds of food, but it looks to go that way. in any event, the dragon is to stay hospitalised for the balance of the week. and as of now, they are back on 5 meals a day, maybe that will help, too. so, despite spring being all over us, the days in the dragon cave are getting shorter again! :)

Chapter 195 - crib 4 rent...
after the unisonal vote there is no other way anymore, huh? :) sooooooo, we are renting out the cradle. for single kids probably a bit big, it should serve parents of multuplets - although that is not a requisit. the size is 120cm x 75cm, it is made of willow basketry with a stable plywood base and has a washable liner inside, so the babies wont get hurt. for a matarace we used just a large piece of foam, which can be ordered off the internet for petty cash. both straps come with the crib, they are 50mm heavy duty safety straps with about 400 times the capacity of three little ones (better be safe! :)) they are long enough to go around the crib, up to the ceiling and back and then about 6 feet longer for possibly taller rooms than ours with only 8 feet. the rent will be moderate, as we already know the financial challenges, plus, we are going to donate 100% of it to the preemie association we joined.

so, anyone who knows anyone in need, let us know - either by comment or the email link above...

Chapter 194 - in again
the dragon is back in the hospital, just as planned, so no biggie... or are they? well, our dragon would hardly be our dragon if they wouldn't add a little spice to the whole affair, and here is how:
the appointment was yesterday, and the idea was - we recall - rather a little sanatorium: weightgaining, checking for anatomical potential, higher calory food, that sorta thing... but the evening before, collin started showing signs of a flu-like infect: pretty annoying cough, fever, difficulty breathing and thus sleeping, lots of crying... and we seem to be a bit "out of training" and got a little scared. so we went to the emergency room, just to be safe and get some cough syrup. it turned out to be no biggie, as expected, but by now - surprise! - they all got nicked. collin is doing better already, which allows for hope that the other two will rush through it at a similar pace, but as of yet, they rather lost some weight instead of gaining. well, at least both stories are overlapping so they can be cured in one sitting, so to speak. and in the loving, tender and most of all competent care of our beloved clinic the dragon is undoubtedly in best hands! sufficiently demonstrated, if for nothing else, by the loving way we are greeted and treated, the glances, words and confidence we are given... so, get well soon, little dragon! spring is around the corner, we got no time to waste, the garden is waiting for you, c'mon!

Chapter 192 - a crib retires
the time has come... no more nice swinging and levitating, our dragon has grown out of the crib. WOW, how fast was that?! on july11th, 2011, the dragon has landed, that's a mere 9 months, not even! and we're talking slow growth, much too small preemies here! how fast would that be with "normal brood"?
well, from here on in they will sleep in three little travel beds, for the interim until they are big enough to move into the snorer shelf, the double deck bed... first night with the new setup was a little louder, i admit... must be a little stress from the move, but we all know what that feels like, right? maybe a little re-arranging, streamlining, possible rotation of position, nothing we can't handle. and the babyphone needs to be re-centered: we can't see the whole dragon anymore from where it is sitting now. :)

the big sentimentale question now but is: what are we gonna do with our good old crib? we are fresh out of space to store it dry and clean somewhere, and besides, it would be the very definition of a shame to tuck it away somewhere, while it can help other little three or however many headed dragons get a neat and unique start into life. on the other hand, this is also *THE* definite classic family heirloom, which we would hate to just sell and lose track of... so, now what? this is where you come into the picture, dear readers:

what should we do with our dragon crib?
keep & store it
get rid of it
hold on to it & lend it to other multi and/or preemie parents, for a donation to the "federleicht" club of preemies & their parents
some completely different idea (for details use comment)
